REBUILDING NEPAL
MARYIA'S TRAVEL BLOG _ 2016
Nepal Travel Blog 2016
This past summer I got a chance to volunteer with an incredible group of people at All Hands Volunteers, a US-based NGO which does emergency response and long-term recovery in disaster-hit countries all over the world. I traveled to Nepal for two months to work on three school build projects in remote mountainous regions of the country, helping communities recover after a devastating earthquake in 2015. I got a chance to see each school at a different stage of construction: starting from the very foundations, to seeing one being complete. I also got a chance to learn a variety of new skills, starting from bending rebar to mixing concrete to plastering walls. It has been an incredibly challenging but infinitely rich experience, something that informed the course of my life, at least for the next little while, and shaped the person that I am today. This blog is a brief documentation of my experience, hopefully serving as an inspiration to others.
