ALL HANDS VOLUNTEERS
All Hands Volunteers is a US-based non-governmental organization (NGO) which addresses immediate (emergency) as well as long-term needs of communities affected by natural disasters. They have been active for the past 12 years, picking up projects all over the world and with the help of over 37 000 volunteers were able to reach over 500 000 people worldwide. One of the distinguishing features of AHV is that they do not require volunteers to pay - All Hands provides food, shelter, transport from base to work site and all working supplies (materials, tools, etc.) for their volunteers, you just need to pay for airfare to get to project site. My experience in Nepal has been incredibly humbling, eye-opening and life-changing in many ways, as I am sure it was for other volunteers.

Approach
All Hands works at addressing the immediate and long-term goals of affected communities through three stages:
RESPOND
Emergency response after a disaster, can include "mucking & gutting" after a flood, clearing rubble after an earthquake and safe demolition of damaged buildings.
RECOVER
Addressing long-term needs of a community by rebuilding schools, houses, daycare facilities, community centres.
RENEW
Integration into community is key as it helps affected regions to recover. All Hands organizes community events for kids, English tutoring sessions, community nights and so on.
